Paphiopedilum exul (Ridley) Kerchove

• Described: Ridley in Gardener's Chronicle, 3rd series, 10: 94 (1891), based on plants sent to Singapore from southern Thailand
• Transferred: Kerchove in Le Livre des Orchidees, 478 (1894)
• Etymology: Derived from the latin exsilium, meaning exiled; named for its geographical separation from typical habitats of P. insigne, of which it was first described as a variety.

Plant Habit
